We've changed the way you complete courses

In response to user feedback we have simplified the way courses can be completed.

Until now you needed to complete the topics and modules in order, from start to finish. But from today you can complete them in any order you wish.

Just visit any topic that interests you, and when you are ready mark it as completed by clicking the green 'Mark complete' button at the bottom of the page.

Once you have completed all of the topics in a module an assessment will be provided for you.

Complete all the assessments to finish the course.

Thanks, I've got it! X

Welcome to the course on diabetic foot disease

This course gives you an overview of diabetic foot disease, while exploring in detail some of the common characteristics and difficulties this important complication of diabetes can give rise to. In module 1 we explore the disease pathways underlying what is sometimes called the ‘Cinderella complication’, and outline some of the more innovative techniques now available to help achieve better understanding and management of the foot in diabetes. Module 2 goes deeper still into the practical steps required to save the limb for patients with diabetic neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease, including footage of radical infection-control surgery and a specially filmed guide to performing a 3-minute foot risk assessment. In module 3, we look at some of the exciting recent developments in research into diabetic foot disease, including new medications, new approaches to infection and the use of SMART technology to empower patients to prevent foot ulcers. Finally, module 4 provides an overview of the different levels of lower limb amputation and the factors that influence surgical decision making.
