Patrick Holmes (MB BS) trained at the University of London, qualifying in 1993. He is a practising General Practitioner (GP) and has worked as a GP Partner at St George’s Medical Practice, Darlington, UK since 1998. He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Patrick is the clinical lead for diabetes on the local Clinical Commissioning Group. He also works for the County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust as a GP with a Special Interest in Diabetes. Patrick was involved in the design of the largest integrated diabetes service in the UK serving the population of Darlington and County Durham. His clinical interests include adult type 2 diabetes, particularly preventing complications and obesity. He was awarded an MSc in Diabetes Care from the University of York in 2009. Dr Holmes has been involved in medical education of healthcare professions for many years, working with a variety of organisations including BMJ Learning, Diabetes UK, Mimms, Pulse and Univadis. He has been the Primary Care CPD Accreditation Reviewer for the EASD e-Learning programme since June 2021.
